CONTINUING EDUCATION FOR HUMANE SOCIETY POLICE OFFICERS SPRING 2023 DATES COMING SOON ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Loose and Stray Animals/Dispatching Animals
JANUARY 26, 2023 8:30AM-4:00PM
LOCATION: 40 Northeast Drive Hershey, PA 17033
Responding to loose domestic animal complaints is common for the patrol officer. Sadly, sometimes this response requires the dispatching of animals when it is absolutely necessary, and as a last resort. These animals are not only the personal property of their owners, but they are often considered members of the family.
This training day is about how to better assess these situations and make smart, thoughtful decisions to protect the lives of the people and animals involved. This one-day course includes an overview of useful tools and tips to assist with the humane capture and restraint of common domestic animals, de-escalating dog situations without pulling the trigger, scared vs dangerously aggressive dogs, “shoot/don’t shoot” scenarios, how to manage available resources and have a plan in place BEFORE that call comes in, and more. THIS COURSE IS RESTRICTED TO FULLY SWORN MUNICIPAL POLICE OFFICERS/COUNTY DETECTIVES, STATE POLICE, COUNTY DETECTIVES, AND MEMBERS OF THE COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICES.
February 7-9, 2023 Location: 40 Northeast Drive Hershey, PA 17033
This is a comprehensive course covering summary investigations, Magisterial District Courts, completing the non-traffic citation and summary court proceedings, testifying, admitting evidence, and more. This course includes scenarios and mock trials on the final day. Maximum of 20 course participants.
This course is open to Humane Society Police Officers, Animal Control Officers, State Dog Wardens, Department of Agriculture and other state, county or municipal personnel who serve any type of summary enforcement role within the performance of their duties.
