HUMANE SOCIETY POLICE OFFICER CERTIFICATION TRAINING

The PAACC is the only organization that holds the state approved Basic Humane Society Police Officer Certification Course to become eligible to be sworn in and work as an HSPO in PA, pursuant to Title 22/Chapter 37 (HSPO Act).  This course is open to all; however, it is REQUIRED to work as an HSPO in PA.  Please click here for our next BASIC HSPO training dates and information. 

ELECTIVE TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

The PAACC offers elective courses in addition to the Basic HSPO and CE.  These courses include such topics as Mock Trials, Executive Director training, Stray Dog and Dispatching Animals, Police-Involved Dog Encounters, Animal Cruelty and Animal Incident Response, Farm Animal Emergencies and more.  These courses are hosted by the PAACC or we can come to your area or department to conduct customized training. 

EXPERT WITNESS

Expert witness testimony is available on a case-by-case basis and is animal incident and animal welfare related in nature only. 

HUMANE SOCIETY POLICE OFFICER CONTINUING EDUCATION

All sworn HSPO's and those who successfully completed the Basic HSPO course and wish to retain their credentials for future employment are required to attend a minimum of 16 hours of state approved CE every two years from the date of their last CE or graduation of the Basic HSPO course.  The PAACC is the only organization that provides the state approved CE, pursuant to Title 22/Chapter 37 (HSPO Act). CE is usually offered at least twice in a calendar year, Spring and Fall.  

CONSULTING

Consulting services on animal incident response and investigation is offered to law enforcement agencies, District Attorneys, municipalities, animal-welfare organizations and any other animal welfare-related organization or business upon request.  The consulting rate includes travel expenses and mileage.  Contact Colleen Shelly at cjshelly@the-paacc.com FMI. 

FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT

Some topics and courses are law enforcement sensitive and offered to fully sworn federal, state and local law enforcement only.  If you feel our services for your specific needs must be restricted to law enforcement only, we can and do accommodate these requests.
